Job description
Primary focus it to modify, adapt or even build optical microscopes or other optical instruments for tissue engineering applications

Work with scientists in biomedicine, and tissue engineering to deliver solutions to practical problems

Maintain performance of various optical microscopes and other instruments

Perform image processing and analysis using ImageJ, Matlab, Imaris

Assist in laboratory management and related IT infrastructure tasks


Key Qualifications

Solid understanding of optical systems
Hands-on alignment experience, preferably involving laser based optical systems
Experience with signal acquisition and processing
Experience using Labview, Matlab, C#, or similar for lab equipment control, data collection, and data analysis
Experience with typical optics lab equipment - Power meters, OSAs, cameras/detectors, oscilloscopes, optical stages/mounts, etc.
Basic understanding of biological concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid teamwork and leadership skills
Open-minded and willing to work in a multi-disciplinary area

Education

B.S./M.S. in Optics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering
